Common, accepted and under threat
I attended a NOW conference at St. Cloud in the 1970s. I remember how terrific it was, that feeling of sisterhood, women supporting each other. But on the issue of choice, two members abstained. I was one. [Choices&RisksFeature, MWP, June 2017]

I know it's important that we control our bodies, yet I think we have given the religious right a gift. Too often, it looks like we think the only solution to a problem pregnancy is an abortion.

There is, of course, another option: adoption. A pregnancy lasts nine months. An aborted fetus is denied a lifetime.

A Gloria Steinem quote: If men could get pregnant, abortion would be a sacrament.

Do we really want to be just like men?
