OPENING RECEPTION:THURSDAY,NOVEMBER 15TH, 5 TO 8PM
Nina Bliese Gallery presents “The Suffering of Becoming,” a show that will exhibit artist Robyn Sand Anderson’s new acrylic paintings.
Anderson’s new body of work delves into the emotion of suffering. Diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, her experience of chronic pain and working through its limitations has focused her attention on the anguish we all hold in common whether it is physical, mental, or spiritual. It has also brought about a change in her media. Anderson has been a watercolorist for over 30 years but the last few years she has changed to acrylic. This switch in media has allowed her to “cover over mistakes,” and with acrylic there is forgiveness, and “forgiveness is good.”
Anderson’s vibrant abstractions “speak coherently to the mystery of being human”. By exploring and living with suffering her work is expressed in intense colors, rapid movement, and whirlwinds of texture. Through the examination of her work, her hope is to “bring focus and attention, and perhaps understanding” to that suffering.
Robyn Sand Anderson has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Art and Art Education from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. She taught high school art for four years and is a professional artist specializing in transparent watercolor and acrylics.
Please join us for an exhibit that will inspire you to see the hope on the other side of suffering.
