DetailsThe American Craft Show returns to Saint Paul RiverCentre on April 7 - 9, and will feature more than 225 of the country's top contemporary craft artists presenting their latest handmade creations in jewelry, clothing, furniture, and home décor. The show will run for three days with a special $5 ticket price on Friday evening after 5 p.m. Show-goers will enjoy the return of popular on-site programs: Make Room: Modern Design Meets Craft, Style Slam, Hip Pop, and Let's Make. Make Room: Modern Design Meets Craft is returning for its fifth year, with this year's theme being "In Space and Time." This home décor program puts craft into context by featuring room vignettes created by designers who have been inspired by objects of fine craft. In honor of ACC's 75th anniversary, this year the rooms will also be inspired by iconic images that celebrate the history of craft by decade from the '40s to today.   The Twin Cities designers that will be participating this year and their chosen decade include Ashley Schulzetenberg ('90s) Very, Inc. and Portu Sunberg studio in Minneapolis, Victoria Sass ('70s) Prospect Refuge Studio in Minneapolis, Neal Kielar and Jon Mehus ('60s) MidModMen+Friends studio in St. Paul, and Aimee Lagos and Christiana Coop (2010s) Hygge & West studio in Minneapolis, who are collaborating with Mike Smith at Forage Modern Workshop.   With a variety of specialty categories, the American Craft Show in St. Paul offers something for everyone. Shoppers will experience the work of hundreds of the country's most talented artists under one roof, while exploring the process each artist uses to create his or her work. Don't miss this opportunity to shop one-of-a-kind, fine-quality crafts while engaging with the country's most talented artists.   Style Slam, ACC's latest program addition, returns for its second year, pairing four professional stylists with the talented network of ACC fashion wearables, accessory, and jewelry artists to demonstrate how the statement pieces ACC artists are known for are the perfect fit for any fashion-conscious wardrobe.    Grant Whittaker, lead stylist for the Style Slam and his team of four local stylists will pair show attendees with ACC jewelry and wearables featured at the show. 2017 stylists include Christina Fortier of Christina Fortier Style located in Burnsville, Vanessa McDuffie of  Nessa Bess Style in Minneapolis, Martasia Person (a.k.a. Tay Shanae) of Bold Maniere in Minneapolis, and Jose´ Ayala of Haus Style in West St. Paul. Hip Pop is an emerging artists program that highlights the talented makers who are new to the American Craft Show scene. Participating artists are selected through a jurying process and grouped into shared booths, where each artist has their own display space. This community-based structure provides a supportive atmosphere for the best and brightest emerging talent to interact with each other - as well as seasoned artists and show-goers - and sell their work.   Let's Make is an initiative that connects craftsmanship to craft by honing in on the actual process of bringing a conceptualized idea of craft to life. During the show, a variety of artisans will provide interactive demonstrations, giving show-goers a chance to participate in the process of creating a piece of artwork.   American Craft Council No one understands the world of artful living better than the American Craft Council. The national, nonprofit educational organization has been shaping the artisanal craft movement for decades, serving as a craft chronicler, tastemaker, convener, and provocateur through its bimonthly magazine American Craft, annual juried shows presenting artists and their work, thought leadership conferences, awards, research library, workshops, and seminars.
