DetailsThe Women’s Art Resources of Minnesota provides support, opportunities, networking, mentorship and education to women artists in achieving their personal and professional goals in the visual arts. Inspired by a rousing speech in 1973 by Judy Chicago at St. Catherine University, the founding members organized to seek recognition of women artists in exhibits and careers, originally as the Women''s Art Registry of Minnesota. Within ten years they created an environment and network that gained a national reputation and, from 1976 - 1991, maintained a gallery in the Minneapolis Warehouse district. The highly acclaimed WARM Mentor program has nurtured protegées and encouraged peer support since 1982. In 2010 “Registry” was adjusted to “Resources,” reflecting contemporary practice and the evolving services of the organization. WARM@40 celebrates forty years of the supportive community of WARM. This selection of work shows the quality and value of art produced by current members. These are women who have benefited from the opportunities available through WARM and take the responsibility to continue that process for future artists.
