DetailsMinnesota’s top women entrepreneurs honored for innovation, achievement and economic success Minnesota Chapter of National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) releases list of Women Achieve! winners Minnesota women who are business founders, owners or partners are being recognized for their achievements on December 7 at the Minnesota Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO-MN) 40 Years of Achievement Gala Dinner, Founders' Panel Discussion and Achieve! Awards Celebration. These awards honor the women’s contributions to the local and national economy as well as their support of women-owned businesses. NAWBO member and business owner Diana Pierce, a former TV news anchor, will emcee the event. “As 2017 marks our chapter's 40th anniversary as the nation's very first chapter, we lift up our visionary founders and trailblazers. While we celebrate our past, we also recognize remarkable Minnesota women business owners who are making their mark today and for the years to come,” says NAWBO-MN President Mary Quist-Newins. Founders’ Panel Discussion The Founders’ Panel Discussion will include representatives from all four decades of NAWBO-MN: Susan Sands, S&B Properties (NAWBO Founding Mother and Minnesota Women Business Owners Hall of Fame Winner) Karen Desnick, Metropolitan Picture Framing, (Minnesota Women Business Owners Hall of Fame Winner) Jeri Meola, SMS Research Advisors (representing the 1990s) and Marnie Ochs-Raleigh, Evolve Systems (representing the 2000s). Achieve! Award Winners The Women Achieve! Awards presented at the event include: Women Business Owner of the Year: Presented to a woman whose business achieved sustained growth in size and revenue, and who showed innovativeness and resilience in response to challenges. Presented to Lili Hall, KNOCK, Inc. (Minneapolis) Vision Award: Awarded to a NAWBO woman business owner or a corporate partner who demonstrated exemplary vision in providing opportunities for women business owners, supporting and advocating for them and helping guide them on a path toward success. Presented to Sue Hawkes, YESS! Your Extraordinary Success Strategies, Inc. (Minneapolis) Lifetime Achievement Award: Bestowed on a woman who has achieved long-term success substantiated by at least 20 years as a business owner. Presented to Bonnie Russ, Mahoney, Ulbrich, Christiansen and Russ, PA (St. Paul) Emerging Woman Business Owner of the Year: Presented to a woman who is growing a business that features a creative and innovative product or service. Presented to Khadija Ali, Global Language Connections (Minneapolis) and Priya Morioka, Global Language Connections (Minneapolis) Woman Pioneer: Awarded to a woman business owner whose company is succeeding in a typically male-dominated industry. Presented to Jeanine Gill, Osseo Gun Club (Osseo) Innovation Award: This award recognizes a woman owned business with an innovative product or service that shows high potential for long-term success. Presented to Inell Rosario, MD, Andros ENT & Sleep Center (Inver Grove Heights) and Angie Gustafson, Gustola Granola (Minneapolis) Established Woman Award: This award goes to a woman business owner who has been established for at least 10 years and has what it takes to sustain a steady business for years to come. Presented to Mary Younggren, The Advent Group, Inc. (Edina) Generational Award: This award honors the significant accomplishments of a NAWBO second generation (or more) woman business owner operating the family business. Presented to Jennifer Dalquist, Nordic Ware (Minneapolis) The 40 Years of Achievement Gala The 40 Years of Achievement Gala Dinner, Founders' Panel Discussion and Achieve! Awards Celebration will be held Thursday, December 7, 2017 at International Market Square, 275 Market Street, Minneapolis 55405. Semi-formal attire is suggested.
