Lunafest

Nine short films by, for and about women are featured in this annual traveling film festival, a fundraiser to support transforming trauma into power and the Breast Cancer Fund, hosted by the Minnesota Peacebuilding Leadership Institute. $25 or $45. 6:30 p.m. Riverview Theater, 3800 42nd Ave., Mpls. Escaping servitude

Asian Women United of Minnesota is partnering with Minnesota Coalition for Battered Women and Cornerstone to host the film premiere of the 57-minute "Light," a multi-faceted meditation on women being forced into indentured servitude who risk their lives for freedom. Dividing the British Indian empire

Playwright Meena Natarajan's world premiere of "5 Weeks," composed of narrative and music, tells the stories of those divided in 1947 by the hastily drawn border of the British Indian Empire into India and Pakistan - Hindus, Muslims, Parsis, Anglo-Indians - and the fate of women and children abducted during the partition. $18 general, $12 students/seniors. 7:30 p.m., Thurs. through Sat.; 2:30 p.m., Sundays.
