It was 25 years ago when Minneapolis hosted the Re-Imagining conference, a celebration of feminist, womanist and mujerista theology that attracted more than 2,000 participants from 49 states, 27 countries and nearly 40 denominations of Christianity. It also raised more than a few eyebrows among traditional Christians and had a positive lasting impact on the Church’s relationship with women.

In celebration of its anniversary, Re-Imagining is back with a series of seven events, running through November 2018.

Sherry Jordon, a participant in the original conference who helped organize the 25th anniversary events, observed, “There are still debates over inclusive language, sexuality ... and the placement of women as senior pastors.”

A day-long conference will be held on January 27 at Plymouth Congregational Church, “Re-imagining a World Without Violence.” Attendees will participate in workshops on topics ranging from gender violence to the power of forgiveness to our broken trust with law enforcement, all through the lens of faith and spirituality.

Looking for a way to curl up with a good book this winter? A few book discussion groups we’ve heard about:  The Girly Book Club (Minneapolis), Contemporary Women Authors club (Northfield library), LGBT Women’s Book Club (Twin Cities), “Read-A-Latte” (Eden Prairie). Libraries and Meetup.com are good places to look for a club. BookWomen, the long-time affiliate of Minnesota Women’s Press, continues to host groups and retreats.
